According to an insider in the business community on the 21st, Amore's eldest daughter, Seo Min-jung filed for divorce from her chaebol husband Hong Jung-hwan after 8 months of marriage.
The two married at the guest house of the Shilla Hotel in Seoul in October 19, 2020 and at time, their marriage became a hot topic and was nicknamed "marriage of the century" as two conglomerates were joining hands, bringing a considerable power ripple to the business industry.
Jung-hwan, is the director of investment review at Bokwang Group, a pan-Samsung family and Min Jung is the eldest daughter of AmorePacific Group, a representative cosmetics company in Korea.
The specific reason for divorce is unknown, however, about 4 months ago, Min Jung's father, Amore's Chairman Seo, recovered 100,000 shares donated to her husband in February.
According to Financial Supervisory disclosures, Chairman Seo's stake in the company increased to 53.78% from 53.66% after recovering the gift and Samsung's Jung-hwan's share went from .12% to 0.
An Amore official told News1, "It's a private matter so it's difficult to confirm reason for divorce."
