'Spider-Man' is leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe [MCU].
Deadlines for negotiations between Disney and Sony broke down on the 20th and as a result 3 of 4 'Spider-Man' productions will be produced by Sony.
John Watts and Tom Holland will be the focus and Marvel chief Kevin Pigi will no longer be in charge of producing Spider-Man. The reason for the split was due to the profit-sharing.
Disney wanted a 50-50 split in profits for upcoming 'Spider-Man' films and the entire Spider Man franchise. Sony refused stating that "there's no Hollywood producer that'll divide the goose that lays the golden egg in a 50-50 split." Sony maintained their stance saying they plan to keep the 95-5% revenue split and Disney declined.
Meanwhile, shares of Sony Pictures are plummeting due to the news.
